3 Types of Care Provided by Our Boise Chiropractor
There are 3 stages of chiropractic care: relief care, corrective care and wellness care. The first stage focuses on symptomatic relief, which includes pain reduction and any general discomfort. The second stage of care addresses tissue healing and normalizing its functions. The final stage consists of spinal checkups to prevent the formation of new injuries, minimize future reoccurrence of old injuries and prevent degenerative spinal processes.
Some practice members just want enough help to get through a flare-up or crisis. Once out of the crisis, these practice members choose to wait until they have another flare-up or crisis. This is called relief care or crisis care. This type of care can take as little as 1 or 2 chiropractic treatments, but it usually takes somewhere between 3 and 10 treatments.
Others don’t just want relief. They want to correct and stabilize their spine as well. Those who choose corrective care are looking for more than just the best chiropractic care they can find. This type of chiropractic builds on relief care. Once out of crisis or pain, the body can focus its energies on remodeling muscles, tendons and ligaments that have either been injuries or have shortened (or lengthened) as they worked to stabilize less-than-ideal segments, bones and joints.
Some practice members are interested in more than just spinal adjustments with stretches and exercises. They want to increase their general adaptability potential (or GAP) as much as possible. That way, they can get, stay and age as well as possible. This phase of chiropractic care will go a long way to helping patients increase their general adaptability potential which will help patients to get well, stay well and age well by increasing their ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment. This type of chiropractic builds on relief and corrective care.
